US President Joe Biden Cheers as Air India-Boeing Deal Makes History!

US President Joe Biden on February 14 applauded Air India’s decision to acquire 220 Boeing aircraft and described it as a ‘historic deal.’

The White House said in a statement by Joe Biden, “Manufacturing in the United States can and will lead the globe. Today, I am pleased to announce that Air India and Boeing have reached a historic deal to acquire over 200 American-made aircraft.”

“This acquisition will sustain nearly one million American employment in 44 states, with many requiring just a two-year college degree. This declaration also demonstrates the strength of the economic connection between the United States and India,” the statement said.

Aside from that, Biden expressed optimism in his remarks that the cooperation will be strengthened even more by continuing to face common global issues and build a more secure and prosperous future for people.

On the AI-Boeing contract, PM Modi spoke by phone with US President Joe Biden on February 14 and expressed delight with strengthening the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, which has resulted in strong growth across all disciplines.

Both presidents hailed the news of a historic partnership between Air India and Boeing as an example of mutually beneficial collaboration that would help generate new job opportunities in both nations. PM Modi also asked Boeing and other US industries to take advantage of the opportunity created by India’s developing civil aviation industry.

On February 10, Bloomberg reported that Air India had inked agreements with Airbus SE and Boeing Co. for around 250 orders and commitments totaling 210 A320 single-aisle family models and 40 A350 wide-body aircraft.

It further said that Boeing has secured around 290 potential acquisitions, including 190, 737 Max aircraft with the option for 50 more, 20, 787 Dreamliners with the same number as a possible top-up, and 10, 777x airplanes. According to the article, the ultimate figure may yet alter due to the complex nature of the purchase.
