Rihanna announces her second pregnancy during the 2023 Super Bowl halftime performance

Talk about huge revelation moments. Rihanna hinted about her pregnancy with her second child during Sunday’s Super Bowl halftime show.
Shortly after Rihanna’s performance—and noticeable baby bump—sparked widespread speculation online, a spokeswoman for the Grammy Award-winning singer confirmed the news.

Rihanna is expecting her second child with boyfriend A$AP Rocky, making her the first pregnant woman to perform in a Super Bowl halftime show. In May 2022, the couple had their first child.
Rihanna cradled her tummy between choreography from the raised Super Bowl platform, wearing a bright red, partially unzipped jumpsuit layered over a skin-tight bodysuit. Dancers dressed in white ski suits and wearing tinted goggles had dangling platforms that moved in sync with hers.

There were no continual outfit or setting changes as in prior years. Throughout the 13-minute concert, the concept and color scheme remained consistent, with crimson lights engulfing the stage at moments and golden pyrotechnics erupting in the air above her.

Rocky was also at the game and was spotted dancing on the sidelines to Rihanna’s performance.

Rihanna previously informed CBS’s Nate Burleson in a promotional interview for her Super Bowl performance that she has a surprise planned for her halftime act.

“I’m considering bringing someone.” “I don’t know, but we’ll see,” she added.

Rihanna accepted the Super Bowl halftime performance deal three months after giving birth. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she wanted her kid to see the performance.

“When you become a parent, something simply occurs where you feel like you could take on the world—you can do anything.” And the Super Bowl is one of the world’s largest platforms. As terrifying as that was, “there’s something wonderful about the challenge of it all,” she added. “It’s critical that my kid sees it.”

Rihanna delivered a 12-minute performance with singles like “B—h Better Have My Money,” “Umbrella, Diamonds, and “We Found Love.”

Rihanna’s solo performance was her first in seven years and her first after becoming a mother.
